About Toronto Faculty of Music
Founded in 1979, the Toronto Faculty of Music has been a trusted part of the Etobicoke and Greater Toronto music community for decades. Known as one of the area’s longest-standing music schools, we have helped thousands of students of all ages discover, develop, and deepen their love of music.
More than just a music school, we are a community of musicians, educators, and learners who believe music should be both inspiring and accessible. Our approach blends strong technical training with creativity and enjoyment, helping each student grow with confidence at their own pace.
We offer private lessons and Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) preparation across a wide range of instruments. Whether students are just beginning or preparing for advanced examinations and performances, our experienced, university-trained instructors provide personalized guidance tailored to each individual.
At Toronto Faculty of Music, we welcome students as young as 3 years old through to adults, creating age-appropriate programs designed to support lifelong musical learning. We also offer opportunities to perform, collaborate, and build real-world musical experience through group classes and ensembles.
We are proud to offer free trial lessons and instrument loans for new students, making it easier than ever to begin your musical journey.
Above all, our mission is simple: to open the world of music to every student who walks through our doors, and to foster a lifelong passion for learning, creativity, and performance.
When it comes to music lessons, Etobicoke turns to the Toronto Faculty of Music and here is why:
High Pedagogical Standards for Early Learners
While many neighbourhood studios rely on teenagers or part-time hobbyists for beginner classes, the Toronto Faculty of Music emphasizes credentialed, professional educators
Comprehensive Curriculum & RCM Preparation
The school goes beyond recreational play by preparing students for Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams, theory certifications, and advanced performance tracks. It caters to families seeking "serious-but-encouraging" music education where long-term technical growth is prioritized alongside enjoyment.
Long-Term Continuity & Community
A defining strength of the school is its high student and staff retention. Families frequently stay enrolled for 7 to 10+ years, allowing children to progress from early group rhythm classes through advanced private instruction on their primary instrument with consistent mentorship.
A Welcoming, Family-Centered Environment
Despite the academic rigor, the school avoids feeling overly rigid or sterile. Parents consistently note the personal, welcoming touch of the administrative staff and faculty, creating a tight-knit community feel that sets a comfortable tone for young learners.
Accessible Islington Village Location
Situated directly on Bloor Street West near the Kipling/Islington transit hubs, the location offers convenient access for families in Etobicoke and West Toronto, complete with nearby amenities for parents waiting during lessons
